As a student of grade school and college, I kicked butt when it came to getting good grades. Though I never got a 4.0 GPA, I was always on Honor Role. As I got to my university, I had to make sure that I at least had a B average to keep my scholarship and I usually did and do. I recently got a test back that didn't have the best grade. I got so angry! Not at the professor because he is a wonderful person who does a good job at what he does, but at me. I am so used to getting good grades that this test made me sick to my stomach. I didn't understand why I did so bad. I understood everything and I studied for two weeks to make sure that I got a good grade.
Why do we need grades in the first place???? We spend all of our time trying to get good grades because with good grades we get into a good college just to get a piece of paper that says we got all of the requirements for graduation. After graduation no one cares about what GPA you had or what grade you got in General Chemistry. Grades cause a lot of unnecessary stress since our lives as students revolve around them. Without good grades we can't get into upper division classes, we can't apply for most scholarships, and we have to retake the class which means more money going towards our education. Why can't there be a way where we don't have grades? If you can prove you can do the concept you learned in class then you should pass the class without grades, right?

Inside the Mind of an Introvert
- Gum lost flavor and is hard as a rock- "I can't spit out my gum yet because I don't want to leave my seat or someone will stare at me"
- Finished a test- "I'll pretend to look over my answers even though I know I did okay because I have to wait for someone to be the first one to turn in the test"
- Get invited to go to a party- "No, I rather stay home and do nothing instead of having to be in a room full of people"
- In a room full of people- "I'll just stay in this spot and not talk because I'm trying to act normal while I am screaming on the inside"
- Waiting in a line- "Just keep repeating what you need/want so you're not on the spot"
- Talking on the phone- "Don't panic, they will hang up so. Just keep pacing around your room with the door closed"
- Being asked a question in class- "My face is red, everyone is looking at me, and I'm having a mini heart attack"
- Talking to a cute boy- "He might be flirting with me but since I lack normal social skills so I cannot tell"
- Wanting food but there are people you don't know in the kitchen- "I'll just starve"
- Getting change back from the cashier- "I must look like a monkey trying to put this money in my purse so I can leave"
- Giving a speech or talk- "Just look at your paper. Just look at your paper and talk as faster as humanly possible so you can sit back down"
Now you know what goes through every mind of an introvert

An Open Letter to Groundhogs
Dear Groundhogs,
Tomorrow you will predict the outcome of human attitudes across the nation. We are tired of the cold harsh reality of the season we call Winter. We here believe that Winter is a cruel season after the holidays are over. We have to endure the cold while you guys are asleep in your warm beds waiting for Spring to arrive.
All I have to say is you can do one of two things tomorrow. One, you can see your shadow which means the end of humanity as we know it because I know that I cannot stand six more weeks of cold wind going up me coat, slipping on ice, and not being warm! Or two, you can pretend not to see your shadow and bring happiness and warmth to us boys and girls. It's up to you my friend.
All I can say is this: if you do see your shadow I know where to find some groundhog recipes online my friend. You have been warned.
Your Friend,
Felicia

An Ode to the Bitter Cold
Oh Winter Oh Winter
You clever dog you!
You show up when it
Is good for only you.
You care little for
Anyone else.
You cause traffic delays
With your ice and snow.
Your wind cause people
To shiver and beg for some warmth.
You think that it is okay to make people
Who are always cold, COLDER!
You kick Autumn because you have
To be in the spotlight with your
Ice crystals and snowflakes.
You think your beautiful,
But your beauty is no match
For your the pain and suffering
You cause.
Oh Winter Oh Winter
You are going to be the death of Me.
You clever dog you!
You show up when it
Is good for only you.
You care little for
Anyone else.

With your ice and snow.

It's Just a Feeling
Did you ever feeling like there was a hole missing and you feel like you are a failure in every way possible? You felt like there was no one talk to because you were absolutely alone. Did you ever feel like you were bad at everything because you failed at one little thing? Did you feel that there was no one there for you because of one little feeling?
Remember that is just a feeling nothing more. You are NOT a failure, you ARE not alone. You are going to make it through life as though nothing happened because IT WAS JUST A FEELING.

Back to College....
Summer came and went. Now the weather starts to get colder and the trees start to change color. Homework, social life, and jobs start to take over everyone's life. They reminisce on when it was warmer and they had no cares at all. They remember their vacations, friends, and maybe even a summer romance. Now most, if not all, of those things are just memories. Friends are miles apart and those romances are over or hardly would work out. However, now that college started there are new adventures, new friends, and maybe a romance or two awaiting you.

OH THE TORTURE!!!!
At last, Spring Break is here. No more wasting time on silly little things like tests and grades. There is one whole week of bliss where the day can be spent getting some sun on a beach or reading outside during a windy yet warm day. Spring Break is that one taste of Summer where the days start to get longer and warmer. But there is a catch to this wonderful paradise: school. After all the pleasure of warm sunshine school comes creeping up. Teachers expect homework to be done during the heavenly week and to study for tests the following week, but in the moment no one cares about any of that because it is Spring Break and no one cares about school. When school comes back, everyone just wants the year to be over with so Summer Vacation can start. The time in between Spring Break and Summer Vacation is torturous! There are final tests, projects, presentations, and papers due all in this short period of time. Why can't Spring Break be longer or closer to Summer???
